Kemal Ataturk, the revolutionary leader of Turkey wanted to modernize Turkey. One of the first things he wanted to do was stop women from wearing the veil. The radicals were not going to take this lying down. So he made a wily decree which ensured that every respectable woman was without a veil very soon. What was the decree?
